The rocks are well covered, the boulders less so.

I was up friday. First runs were good as the uncompressed high moisture content wet snow skied easily. As the snow got tracked, the combination of pillows with little resistance and tracked area's that were firm and did not feather well, made subsequent runs more challenging. By noon, any movement of skis on snow made a sound like styrofoam being rubbed together. Edging against the firm snow left a sieries of parallel lines signalling that the snow was not inclined to move without great effort.

On my last run, I noticed quite a few people standing still on the hill perplexed at how stiff the mashed potatoes had gotten, while others were cautiously descending.

If I had my bump skis that day, I probably could have done better carving up the hill late in the day, but the lure of fresh snow early and untracked lines make me want to porpoise thru the powder, not slalom turn in the moguls, which is what the tracked up snow turned into pretty quickly.

We are suposed to get a little snow today and sunday looks solidly like rain. :'(

Skied pretty nicely today with just enough fresh to keep things soft up top. Vis went south late morning and it started to snow pretty heavily with free facial exfoliation on lifts and on the ridge to shot six. Washout tonight and tomorrow though...

I also think you may be confused about location or you just made a mistake.

maybe someday you can (properly) show me around Alpental

Not confused, also not a guide.
The pros are doing a good job running the control routes, very thorough and the lifts have been opening on time. Closures are there to help protect as well as build base on terrain that doesn't hold snow well. Stay on the open side of the ropes and you wont have to worry about kicking off slides.
