Crystal 11/30

Not the day I would have liked, but the snow was falling, the crowd was light, and the weather was wild. Lots of winds, kept the upper mountain closed, but the snow coming down was packing in nicely and covering up the rocks. Snow quality improved all day. Kept hoping the wind would die down, but talked to John Kircher around 1pm and he indicated that they had sent the lift op’s home already, he had everything ready to open today, but the storm stalled and kept pounding longer than expected (for some folks)….so sad since the winds seemed to be slowing down when I left. Vis was actually good all day. There will be a lot of wind effect tomorrow, so hopefully the snow will keep falling all night, but some of the forecasts sites don’t show all that much. Might be time for the big boards tomorrow. ddk

So far the storm track is following the forecast right on schedule. Hope it keeps up with this evening's update:

... THE CASCADES EARLY THIS EVENING WITH HEAVY SNOW CONTINUING THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS. THE IDEA OF ANOTHER 4 TO 8 INCHES OF SNOW ALONG AND JUST BEHIND THE SURFACE TROUGH APPEARS LIKELY FOR BOTH THE PASSES AND HIGHER MOUNTAINS. TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS BY LATER TONIGHT WILL LIKELY END UP OVER A FOOT IN THE PASSES AND 20 TO 30 INCHES ABOVE 5000 FEET...ESPECIALLY ALONG S FACING SLOPES AT BAKER AND PARADISE.

Regardless, will have to check it out tomorrow.
