Snow Ride Guide: Things have changed
"The morning after the 24-year fight was over and White Pass Ski Area finally won permission to expand, Kevin McCarthy awoke with a weird feeling..."
Lowell is quoted in the article.
Here's something that's changed. Looks like Crystal is selling first tracks: "“First Tracks Breakfast.” For a yet-to-be determined fee and a lift ticket, you can ride the gondola to the Summit House Restaurant at 7:30 a.m., have breakfast and then get in some early runs before the lifts open to everybody else at 9 a.m."

Fuel up on a gourmet breakfast buffet at Washington’s highest restaurant. Prepare to watch the sunrise on the mountain while you eat your bacon and eggs. Once Ski Patrol gives you the go ahead, you’ll hit the wide-open slopes of Green Valley and get one or two runs in before the public. Be the first to carve out some turns in the fresh powder or on the freshly groomed slopes – comes with bragging rights too!
Schedule: Saturdays & Sundays
Cost: $20 for breakfast and first tracks opportunity in Green Valley. Must also have a season pass with gondola privileges or a lift+gondola ticket to ski or ride.
Load time: 7:15am-7:30am. You’ll get the green light from Ski Patrol around 8:30am.

But I wonder how they're going to try to enforce that? Surely some of the more elitist of the elite are going to think they deserve first tracks all the way back to the base or to Northway chair load, even if The Man says they're not allowed those goods, and/or even if it means having to wait again until the lifts open for the rabble?

Trying to pen the extra-Jackson-spending elite into Green Valley definitely makes sense from a patrol perspective. Otherwise patrol is obligated to have areas like Bear Pit, chutes of Northway Peak, Doors etc. all control-approved about 45 min. earlier than normal. Hard to do under our limited winter daylight.

My guess is you will have to ski with a patroller who will pull pass if you ditch and head for base.
Only way it could work as if not supervised and no penalty... I'm heading for the the bottom of Rex. Northway chair can be controlled as gates will be closed but Doors, Frontside, Iceberg, Exterminator....
