Thursday - A wild pow day.
Because I was skiing with some small grandchildren, I didn't cover much territory. But the snow was awesome.
Blizzard conditions in the parking lot this morning as we parked in lot A. Not a whole lot of folks, up there to track the pow. So, fairly high winds, horizontal snow, blown snow. Light fog. Clearing in the pm, but always windy. It was cold, real cold. I never felt overheated and I was bundled, hood up over my helmet. Pretty much full winter.
Even on the lower slopes, we had freshies over hardpack, with six to fourteen inches of pow on the sidelines. And we are talking about what is light stuff for the PNW.
What a thrill to ski this real snow... wish we had a full winter of it.
They had a gondola car sitting in the base area..
Studded tire use has been extended to April 17. Studded tires and four wheel drive were probably useful on the parking lot this morning.
