The Shell 2 for 1 program began again on April 6 and is valid everyday except Saturday until May 24.  Two adul lift tickets cost us $97.65cdn.  Whistler has returned to normal operations.  We parked the campervan in Lot 4 each night with a couple of other RV’s.  One morning we parked at Base 2 at Blackcomb and could board the Excalibur Gondola after a short walk and on the second day we parked at the oversized vehicle lot at Creekside and had a very short walk to the gondola.  You can still ski to the base of Blackcomb, Whistler Village and Creekside BUT things are getting scratchy on the low portions near the base.

Both days had a few inches of fresh snow but the fog layer moved up and down the mountain all day long.  Freezing levels started at the base and moved up to 1400m during the day. Having 5200vf was a benefit with the fog layers. Here’s an example of how both days were on the mountain.  Clear at Blackcomb base until the top of the Excalibur Gondola, dense fog for most of the length of the Excelerator quad, clear from Glacier lodge to the bottom of the Showcase t-bar, then fog on the upper mountain.  Make a run and find the fog layers move up/down – crazy.  Powder and packed powder on the upper mountain with soft wet snow on the bottom 1000vf. An enjoyable couple days cruising with Perl and his family.  It’s time to get back home and pack up for our extended trip to Tahoe and The Sierra.
