Jill and I were heading for Whistler and decided to spend a few hours cruising around Cypress. We had some free lift tickets and Cypress received a few inches of new overnight. We planned to arrive for their opening which is a rather unusual at10am but had an RV issue to deal with. So when we arrived, it was a long walk along the road to the main lodge. Another unique feature at Cypress is an entry gate to the lift bases where they check your lift ticket. After that entry gate, there is no other checking of tickets at the lifts. The temperatures were mild and a fog layer encompassed the upper half of the mountain. The runs were cut up heavy fresh snow. There were 2 high speed and 1 fixed grip quads operating. With a base elevation of 3000’, it is a short drive from Vancouver up to the mountain. With the heavy fog layer engulfing the upper half of the mountain and numerous closed trails, it was a short day. The views must be incredible on a clear day. We did the tourist thing and were able to get a self portrait photo below the green Olympic Rings on the mountain.
