April 6, 2010 Alpental was created by silaswild
Worried about 2 for 1 Tuesday at Crystal, I decided to head for Alpy instead. Unfortunately my Tercel decided to quit at Tinkham. Undaunted, my thumb and I pressed on and arrived in time for opening. One run on chair 1 while 2 was closed preceded some excellent untracked ski lines in 12-18" powder following the snow trooper Tim Tiejen. Three hours in the snowstorm soaked my gloves and jacket, and too much back seat driving wore out my quads.

It is a winter wonderland outside now, snow not rain falling hard. Guess I better go deal with my friend the Tercel. Anybody know a good mechanic in North Bend or Snoqualmie Pass?

THAT WAS YOU WITH THE MANASLU'S THIS MORNING!

Sorry....no friends on a powder day, etc. But, call these guys in NB. www.northbendauto.com/ . 425-888-4522

BTW, Alpental was fantastic. But all the snow is gone, so best that you all keep skiing at Crystal.

Yup that was likely me. After lunch with the Snoqualmie Senior group, Tim made me go out for a few more runs. Upper International was packed powder with no moguls, my grandma could have enjoyed it!  Tim said despite my old age and skinny skis that I did ok.  Now I feel good about myself.

Hitched back to my car at mp41. Tow truck is hopefully coming to take it and me to Seattle. All is well. Thanks for the referral, I will keep it in mind for the future.

Sorry we missed you, Silas! Alpy was great today, skied until 2 pair of gloves were soaked through before work. Hope your car makes it (white Tercel wagon? We saw it by the side of the road).

Yep, soaked through gloves was my stopping point too, fortunately. Otherwise I think a pulled muscle would have been the alternative. Great to have all those untracked lines with the small group of diehards, even without the backcountry gates open. Yep, it was my white Tercel wagon, now ambulanced to the emergency room, needing a new clutch.
