4/3/10 Northway Lift Line

Here is a picture of the Northway lift line Saturday morning, for those that just heard about it and did not get stuck in it. I was a little late taking the picture, so also got a good shot of the lift shack. Took it just as I was getting on the lift. I did not return. I was told within an hour there was no more line ... most people did the same as me and missed out on more good skiing.

I was unaware that Six Flags had opened an amusement park in the Central Cascades!

Sometimes N'way line snakes in from both sides, as GV and FQ do all the time. Was there just from the one side yesterday or from both?

The lift line was just coming in from the side you see in the picture. Some ropes were set up to form three lines. Thankfully a ski Patroller was directing traffic at the lift. It did help from being a total mess.

Another photo of the line. I did enjoy the mob response to the line cutter trying to slip in on the uphill side. He was pelted with snow balls until he relented, shouldered his skis and hiked back up to the end of the line. We came back and skied Northway all afternoon and found deep snow until 3:00.

All I can say is: WOW!...I was in this line, luckily it did'nt seem as bad as it was (but it was bad), I really miss the days when Northway was more "backcountry" than it is now. Conditions Saturday were awesome!
