Today did not start ideally. I got stuck behind a school bus on 542, only to arrive to a weekend worthy crowd waiting for patrol to drop the rope to the Chair 5/6 base area. Standard midweek powder day affair at Baker.
Onto the good. First tracks down 6 were sick. Wind effected butter. Super smooth. 5 runs later it was time to enjoy the slackcountry Bake affords. Elbow, Elf Chutes and Lower Old Man all were excellent. Switched skis and did a quick tour through Swift Creek - untracked goodness the whole way. Looped around to top of Chair 5 to see the Arm poking through the clouds, and convinced myself a run down the safety line would be worthwhile. It definitely was. Visibility held, rewarding me with untracked goodness all the way back to the car.
Wake n' Bakery double breve powered me home to some brew and pork tenderloin...delicious! Great way to end the day!
