March 29, 2010 Stevens OMG

The morning decision of "where to go skiing" began at 5:30am.  Telemetry data, Mountain Pass report, Ski Area web info, and Ski Area phone message.  Emails circulated among the powder addicts and finally the decision-Stevens.  Yeah, Crystal had more snow overnight but the wind data and phone message indicated  that the upper lifts would be delayed for awhile.  Driving up to Stevens was a bit concerning-no snow until the last mile before the pass.  We're there at 8:20am and about 10 cars are in the parking area.  I haven't been at Stevens for a couple months and it was scary not having big snowbanks on the west approach.  We're in line at 8:45am and there are 4 pairs ahead of us. 

Ready, set, GO - no friends - powder day.  I met a lot of new friends on the chair rides. IT WAS AWESOME !  Heavy powder for the bottom 200vf on the backside.  Only windy along the ridge.  No crowds, in fact I waited at the bottom of the lift to ride up with someone.  I made 6 lines off Aquarious Face and no one crossed my tracks.  It was deserted, it was snowing hard, it was sooooo much fun.  It was a fat ski day.  Everyone I spoke to was a seaason pass holder.  If the weather forecast is correct it's going to get better.  There was 6-8" on the car when we returned. Being retired has its benefits.

I concur Stevens was off the charts today. If you see a couple of dudes riding on pontoons tomorrow, Give us a holler.

I curse my ACL and it's unwillingness to stay with my body!!!
