March 18, 2010 - Crystal Mountain

Thursday - Ho hum.... just another blue bird day at Crystal.  Stunning vistas of Mt. Rainier from the rim.

Sunshine all day.  Fresh snow, soft grooming.  Had to unzip my layers to cool off.  Snappy cold in the morning, but things did warm up a little.  The snow softened up in a nice way.  But could be variable, a little crunchy in some spots, with chicken heads rolling under my skis.  The Top layer of fresh was fluffy over the underlying crunch layer.

The Green Valley chair was out for a couple of hours late morning, so we cycled Ice Berg and Luckyshot.  Ice Berg got a little heavy with the sluff.   GV chair was operating after lunch and we did the valley and Snorting Elk Bowl.  By then some of the South facing slopes got pretty soft.

Basically a groomer screamer day, but not frozen.  Good skiing.

Excellent day, more fun than I can remember in a long time.  This aided by me taking a couple of paragliding flights from Exterminator. 2nd flight I made 800ft above launch - (300ft above the King) but it was bumby so I didn't get the camera out which was a shame.
