Jill and I took a day off on the 8th and arrived at Brighton the evening of the 8th. We went to our usual parking spot near the Brighton Store at 8750’ and hoped the weather forecast was accurate. It’s rather pleasant to wake up at the ski area and see about 3” new on the campervan and light snow still falling. I was going to brush off the snow, but it was so light you could almost blow it off the window. On weekdays, if you arrive around 8am, you can usually park in the first line about 20 yards from the ticket booth. Plus there’s no paid parking.
We went to Guest Services and filled out the sheet for our 10 days of free lift tickets. The entire mountain is serviced by 4 high speed quads so if you desire vertical, it’s easy to get. The base is at 8755’ and top lift is at 10,500’. There are numerous backcountry gates and avy conditions are posted at each gate, with a ski patrol hut at each location for details.
For 2 days, we rode the first chair up on the Great Western quad and had 1st tracks on the groomers and then ventured off piste. No big storm cycles, just 3-4” each evening with light snow showers throughout the day which made for an enjoyable visit.
Brighton is only 15 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon and has a large night skiing business. We got in the habit of skiing non-stop for 3 hours, then skiing to the camper for lunch and a nap, then returning for another 2+ hours of cruising. It’s really convenient for SLC folks to drive the 15-20 miles from the city at 4500’ to 8500’ for a couple hours of skiing. Makes the drive from Seattle to Snoqualmie seem long…

Hey Zap, did they have their water problem solved? When we were there a few weeks ago there was a water delivery problem and they had shipped in dozens of portapotties in the parking lot. The food facilities were even closed on one of the days we skied.

Hey, for those of you who ski Brighton and get there early like Zap (and I) do to park right up front, make it a point to go to the cafeteria and order a 'half-pile' (or a 'pile' if you're spectacularly hungry). It's their locals/employee breakfast scramble of eggs, meats, cheese, jalepenos, potatoes and who knows what else. It's REALLY good and cheap to boot. Right out of the Whitewater cookbook I suspect!

The "half pile" sounds great.
No water problem. But I did see a bunch of porta potties in the parking lot.
We were planning to leave but sounds like a small storm cycle is arriving Saturday.
