Thursday - Winter came back! Storming here this morning.... about 8 inches of fresh.... heavy pow.. about ten inches down Wallys Way... hard to push around. Can find the boilerplate on steeps.
Lunch.... calmly snowing. Snorting Elk Cellar is packed!

Though it snowed much, with winds in the 30+mph range, the big action was to found in the windblown snow being deposited from the windswept slopes which were crunchy underneath until later in the afternoon when the snow was getting deep enough everywhere to start covering everything.
Southback was closed and the rumor its it won't open until Saturday. This makes sense as yesterday there was a lot of deep styrofoam snow on some faces and in DFF. Incredibly unstable . The wind was just rolling it down the hill so the face was in motion.
When I left at 3;30 it was still below freezing in parking lot (31) and snowing. If the temps stay low it should be epic tomorrow.

Yes, this was a real weather day. I had my hood up over my helmet.
I can see where things can get unstable... a foot of snow on top of slick boiler plate or frozen stuff..... I didn't take much to get the skis to scraping frozen stuff on the steeps.
Some mighty wind gust today... blowing snow all over. I think some gust got up to 50 - 60mph.... Then later, calm.
Light fog... but visibility was always a problem until late afternoon. White on white on white.... Fog and cloud cover keeps things cool though, preserving the snow.
Wow! Freshies all over... no grooming anywhere... things got chopped. You gotta be tough to ski this stuff all day. Hard work to push this stuff.
The snow is on the heavy side.... but the wind can blow it. This is a real nice addition the snow pack. Groomers will be nice for the weekend if they get to it.
Well... you can do "pow" skiing anywhere today.
