March 4, 2010 Timberline

Our first stop on this year's Road Trip was Timberline. We purchased Spring Passes for $109 whch are valid until May 31. We spent the night in the parking lot and woke to an inch of new, sunshine and the mountain filling the view from our back window in the campervan. All 4 high speed quads were operating and the place was deserted. 2" fell the day before and we skied buckle deep powder off piste. The area skiers right off the Palmer lift had pleasant untracked all the way down to the top of the Stormin Norman quad. Coverage was good but a local mentioned the snowpack was 60% of normal. I posted a picture taken near the top of the Palmer lift which is about 8540'. There is a link below of a TR I did on May15-15, 2009 which includes a photo also taken near the top of the Palmer. Jill was beaming all day and enjoying her K2 Gotback skis.
