February 27, 2010 Crystal Mountain was created by Ritalin Kid
When we arrived at the Crystal base area the night before (Feb 26th) it was raining and didnt expect the day to be all that great. After a slow start we hit the hill at around 10AM to find one of the best days of the year...new snow, sunshine, a few too many people, but not much to complain about. There were about 50+ people waiting at the gate when they opened Southback, but Fred, Bridget, and I managed to snake the group and make it to Silver Basin first...Amazing! Watch in full screen. Wish you were there.

Nice! I was thinking it might have been good there yesterday, given the 1 inch of precip with temps at 27 degrees up top. Think there'll be anything left over tomorrow or Tuesday?

The front side of the king looked unreal. I was surprised to see how much slid on the lookers right side, but lookers left/center seemed to hold up pretty good. I couldn't belive how many tracks there were by the end of the day especially with a mid-day opening.

That side still skied really well though. I went down the first little chute you get to about 1/3 of the way up the King boot pack (looked to good to pass up) and had a great run all the way. The debris was pretty soft and there were a couple spots in between the slide paths where the snow was still fresh.
