Thursday - Total bluebird day! 

Sunny from beginning to end.  Cold groomers all day.  Off groom seemed like styrofoam with a little crust.  I heard that Northway was not so good.  Sunnyside softened up.

Groomers seemed almost frozen, but not ice.  So, frosty cold.  Late in the day, shady spots seemed frozen.   Folks were doing Powderbowl.  The very top of GV Bowl was boiler plate slick. 

So, no new snow, but the snow on the ground was solid.  Snow is off the parking lot and off the trees.  Steady rim winds blew up some face ice.

We bombed the groomers all day with great visibility til I just started getting tired.  Moguls were unforgiving - frozen. I finally got around to taking the wide cat track across Snorting Elk.  Where has this track been for the last two years????   Well, I am glad they finally brought it back.  Wider than the old track.

I guess some kids are in winter break.  So, some speed bumps skiing around.  But not heavy crowds.   

Jill and I took our local grandsons(8 and 5 years old) for their first trip to Crystal. We took them to the top of REX for the their photo. They also had to see the route Jill and I climbed and the route I skied. I think they were more interested in the "whoop dee doos" along the edges of the trails through the woods.

I asked my grandson how the skiing was today. "Grandpa Zap, it was awesome."

I was one of the folks doin Powder Bowl, was great yesterday and maybe even better today....any northfacing slope that gets skied just keeps getting better every day. Pretty much the same for the sun facing slopes on REX...just not enough snow boarders doing their natural grooming for us two plank types. Nice photos! Nice views everywhere! Glad I'm a Grasshoppersquirel.....
