Saturday - From the Bullwheel.

Holiday skiing w/ grandson... verry nice, blue sky, cold, alittle windy up top... face stingers.

Lots of boiler plate, very nice boiler plate. Bring the carvers! What looks like pow goes.... K-chingggg. Well, not that bad... can jam an edge into it. Keep bringing in some new snow!

Fearing crowds, PNWBrit and I went to East Peak instead. Frozen popsicle, I broke a ski crampon it was so hard.
We made 2 turns into Union Creek- Breakable crust, retreated.
Skied down into the basin--- meh, variable.
Skinned back up to top of Bullion Peak and skied north face. 3 nice turns then icy so much so that Chugach( my husky) refused to go further and I had to traverse off with him.
East wind bitter cold.
Superb views of Crystal from that vantage though. She was looking mighty pretty.
Yesterday ,Crystal skied like a spring day.
Thanks for the report Larry.

There was a good crowd today, but certainly light for a holiday or even a weekend. Lift lines were not that long, but were set up weekend style. It was nice to see everybody having fun.

By the latter part of the day, a lot of sluff was building up from skier shavings. So... sluff over boilerplate. I just haven't gotten around to sharpening my edges yet, so pretty dicey on frozen steeps.

Now is the time to sharpen.

Had the buffalo burger with a cup of chowder at the Bullwheel. Good burger, but at 1/2 pound, way too much for me. I thought I could handle it because I hadn't eaten all day. But I did manage to stuff it down. Frankly, I can't handle the meals at a lot of restaurants, just too large.

Lower meadow... still not filled in and some of it is just solid ice. The discovery area is ok though. Lower Bull Run looked pretty bumpy, not really being filled in.

Today was a great blue sky day for taking the kids up. Like I said... it was all fun.
