Nov. 27, 2009 Baker was created by Jim_Clement
We skied inbounds at Baker yeterday. The area was thoroughly soaked by the recent storm and now it is has frozen. The skiing was poor, the ice skating was excellent. Gigantic rail runnels on the closer backcountry slopes. If we ventured to the sides of the groomers or into the trees we had our fillings shaken out. It looks like we need need another big dump before the backcountry will be back in any reasonable shape.

"The skiing was poor, the ice skating was excellent."
Funny.

At least Crystal yesterday had about 6 inches of new over the ice so that the skiing on piste was ok until about 2 pm when it became a slide for life...

Thanks for the realistic "conditions report".  Keith's comments from Crystal and Wolf's comments from Stevens convinced me to finish some home projects.  It's unusual to see a report that actually admits that " the skiing was poor".  Us "old guys" appreciate the honesty.  ;)

I'll see you at the clinic next weekend.

Actually , not wanting to disagree with my friend Keith, but Crystal delivered yesterday....in the SB.There was some noice light density powder if you concentrated on the aspect.
Some vicious, reactive wind slab on the Lizard Back Ridge that seemd localized to the ridge top only but would shatter and propegate as soon as you hit it.
North face of King was 6" on crust with death cookies.
I was first down Appliance Store and there were"applicances" in it.
Skiing was excellent.

I think I saw you guys up there and heading down the ridge at around 11. Glad you were able to find the good stuff. I did have a fun time yesterday as there was sunshine at the top of the mountain and there was new snow.

Sadly it looks like it might be awhile before we get some new snow.
