Crystal - Opening day - Nice!!!

Got up there about 9:20.  Got Parked in lower lot B, so there was a pretty good holiday type crowd.  Lift lines packed and too many boarders, ha ha...

So, my season pass arrived in the mail just yesterday, so I didn't have to juggle that one....

Ok... we had sunshine and blue sky with fresh snow for the first half of the day....  Wow!  But... spent a lot of time in the lift lines with the Rex not running.   But hey, this was a fun day.  So I hopped onto Quicksilver (no lift line).   Spent a long period of time sitting on the Quicksilver lift while it was broke down.  But had a great ride down.  Sitting on that chair, the sun started to burn my lips - I didn't even imagine I would need sunscreen and lip baum today.

Folks were hiking up High Campbell and Ice Berg - powder whores! Is there a better term, sounds so extreme... ok powder enthusiasts.

After lunch, the overcast and fog rolled through.  Rex opened up - I heard that Forest Queen Lift broke.  So skied the crowded Luckyshot.   Got tired and left about 3:00pm.

Felt good to be out there making turns on fresh stuff.

Enough good snow to last a couple of days, won't last to the weekend unless there is more falling.

Some South facing slopes had some re-freeze  crusting at the end of the day.

Thanks Larry, I was one of the powder whores
Stewie and I skinned up to Iceberg and got first tracks then we joined the bootpack up high campbell ( Brutal BTW)to the top of the Throne and got nice turns down Hamburger.
Great day.
Kyle, Snowbell and Lyles carpooled with me and spent the entire day in the BC after skinning from the base( those boys are tough) and they had a great day as well.
We were in the front when Rex opened and got fresh tracks down Green Valley and over towards Founders.
Stewie bought a day ticket for $30 and got his monies worth.
Well done Crystal1

More snow, more snow!!!

I can't believe how many pow turns I got. 10th or so chair when RX opened, nearly untracked green valley bowl run.

Followed Scotsman and Stewie (good climbers, them) up C basin until they were way ahead of me, but couldn't hack the last bit to the throne. The basin still skied great and yielded a number of good turns.

It was so good I went back today with another crew. Couple of laps on the groomers and we went touring up DFF and up Silver Basin.
Terrific powder in shaded areas but crust forming on South facing slopes.
Powder turns down Silver felt like Feb snow.
In bounds ski area is tracked OUT good but still good stuff if you tour.Luckily more snow forecast for tonight.
