Aug 22- Cerro Crystal ? was created by Scotsman
Today, although at the other end of the world, it felt just like a day storm skiing at Crystal.
When we arrived last night at midnight after 36 hrs of travel we were greeted by a snowstorm.
This morning the upper mountain of Cerro Catedral was closed due to high winds and it was snowing hard.
After a few false starts( I had to get my skis re-waxed as the summer wax I had on was sticky) we managed to eke out a good day's powder skiing in some tall trees near the lookers right of the resort.
The visibility was very bad and it snowed heavily all day and the snow is just like our famed Cascade crud, heavy and wet at the bottom of the resort and pretty nice up top( stilll heavy stuff). It snowed about 10" while we skied and getting out of the car park was quite an affair!
Still getting out ski legs back so we were dog tired at the end of the day.
Forecast is for more snow and very high winds so we may be on the lower mountain only tomorrow as well.
