Jen , Jerry and I played hooky and went to Crystal.
Wind and 6" of new.
Right Angle trees fantastic.
Bombing all morning in NB then they opened NB gates with no Northway lift running. ???
I also heard 6 opened for a while then derailed causing a lift evacuation. Don't know any other details. I am guessing this is why they didn't open Northway OR MAYBE NOT!
Although the lack of lifts meant no SB, the NB was incredible as was the weather( very stormy).
Jerry likes his Alpine boots!!!

northway chair was on wind hold and the chair 6 problem had nothing to do with not opening the northway lift.

March goes out like a Lion and April comes in like...a Snow Leopard?
I took a vac day and it was surprising how many untracked lines still remained in Green Valley south slopes at 330p. No to be too picky, but I think the GV telemetry was fairly acccurate at 9" in early am and 2 to 3 during day. Never stopped snowing with a few brief sun appearances. On drive home it was still snowing north of Greenwater after 5p.
I don't think they opened Campbell chair so that and Northway should be great for the slackers tomorrow.
I was real tempted to finish the day in untracked Northway on down to I-5 but as a Boyne part timer we must set an example. Gates said closed. Rarely do I pass up that much untracked goodness. Instead visited Mr Celtic Man's tracks down Right Angle.
Todays avy report mentioning the wind danger is spot on. Some very strong nw gusts at top of ridges. Anyone heading out in crystal bc in next few days should avoid lee slopes.
Mighty fine day. My new Goats are loving this!

Northway gates WHERE open and ropes down but with a sign that said "closed" at top half and " no lifts use I5" on the bottom half. I specifically checked with a patrol as the signs where confusing as they said closed.
He confirmed that the ropes where down and gates open so we went to O's meadows.
With the next storm due Wed night, Thursday will be EPIC.
Git it while u can, mush season aproaches

Truly a wondrous day. Wind pattern has been from the NE the last two storm cycles which has precipitated significant wind affect on what are normally the protected North exposures. By the same token many open slopes incl Frontside, Memorial etc have been wind packed or scoured. This was particularly evident this morning directly under Rex where the bumps had filled under a consolidated top layer. That being said the optimal slopes for light dry are in the trees. O meadows lived up to it's name time after time today, Left trees as well as Paradise and Bruces were very deep and forgiving. Dropped out to E exit lot a couple of solo laps and got a lucky ride both times. Thank you Dave. Last pass was way north with excellent results. Surprisingly after the weekend onslaught today's crowds were slim to none. Majority of spring breakers seemed content to stick to the groomers and fringe area trees. I would anticipate Wed to prove to be borderline epic. South will be problematic following the chair issues, there were only three on board when the wind kicked into high, raising the question of perhaps too light of load in view of the gusts. Blackcomb enforces a no singles rule on 7th Heaven during wind events. Perhaps food for thought ? Look forward to the endless winter for the foreseeable future. Sincerely yours from B lot. That is all.
