It's going to be an epic day in the Cascades today. Super cold and lots of powder. Just like being in the Rockies... Have fun today.
Went to Brighton yesterday instead of the Bird, our original plan which was modified by the 60+ mile and hour winds and a blinding snowstorm. Decided that we would ski free at Brighton with our season passes in case we had to bail. It was so harsh that I did not eat my lunch on the chairlift. There couldn't have been more than a couple hundred people at the resort.
Horizontal pouring snow all day long, blasting furious winds, and temps in the teens. Though there was a hard icy base, with every run the skiing got better as the snow piled up.
I'm sitting in Salt Lake now and outside I'm hearing the snowplow truck clearing the parking lot. Temps in the teens today in the Wasatch along with another 8 to 14 inches predicted.

Sounds like you've got some epic conditions coming as soon as the wind drops. Enjoy.
I read last night that you should exhale at point of the the turn so as not to inhale powder.
Crystal Epic as well.
I love spring powder, woot woot.

The plan was to ski the Bird but when it was announced that the Little Cottonwood Road was closed with no estimated opening time (this is unusual to not predict an opening time). So we decided to head to Solitude. While on the way up the Big Cottonwood on the bus we heard that the road would not open until 10 A.M. Here's why:
"NORTHERN UTAH - An early morning avalanche in Little Cottonwood Canyon hit two cars and closed the road. No one was hurt. The avalanche hit the White Pines area around 3:30 a.m. The slide is about 20 feet wide and one and a half feet deep.
Two people who work at resorts in the canyon were driving down the road when the slide hit their vehicles. They got out safely. The canyon likely will be closed until about 10 a.m."
Very cold (teens), snowing, and lots of new powder at Solitude. In the early afternoon the sun came out.
Cold smoke rolling off my son's skis at Solitude.
