We hit Silverfir at 8:40 and had four or five great powder runs with no lift line. There was a bit of ice down deep, but for the most part we had nice, smooth turns.
At about 9:45 we made our way to Triple 60 Face and dropped into some HEAVY snow with ice chunks underneath. The only thing I can think is that there was some freezing rain at some point yesterday or there were insanely large moguls underneath the powder. Either way, that wasn't too fun.
We rode for another hour or so to increasing heavy snow.
The first hour was worth it.

Alpental was awesome this morning too.  They opened Armstrong at about 8:15, so there was about 45 min of ski on lifts there before the crowd arrived.  Chair 2 opened nice and early too, but the line got to be pretty brutal in no time.

Best snow I found was on Shot Six, which provided a few nice spring face shots.

Edit: Some dude hooked a tip in the snow after getting on chair 2 and got pulled off, the heckling from the entire lift line that followed was priceless. Dude probably felt like a real winner after that one.

FYI - The crusty bits underneath were probably leftover from Fiday nights freeze before the snow started falling early Saturday morning.

Alpy on Sunday:
Heard about the eject, we were several chairs up the line so we didn't see it happen.
Interesting conditions, in some cases it was smooth with a little sense of what was below (Nash). In other cases (rocks-off) there was enough fresh snow to just cover the frozen death cookies lurking below, sucking you in at speed expecting smooth creamy goodness to the bottom, only to put down like a sack of potatoes.

This happened to me last year on Northway at Crystal. Highly embarressing and much enjoyment for the peanut gallery!
