Jill and I planned to ski Alpental but when I heard that Stevens received 13” new overnight – well, when you’re a couple of old “snow sluts” you do what’s necessary. The road to Stevens was snow covered from Zeke’s and unplowed until we reached Skykomish.  We arrived just before the lifts started loading.  The first wave headed straight for the backside and Jill and I cycled Big Chief.

Can the powder be too deeeep ?  Depends. As long as someone packs the entry and exit run out, you could ski the steepest line you could find and have continuous face shots.  Ski an intermediate slope or be the first person at the bottom run out and you were knee to waist deep and wallowing to try to escape.  It was in the 20’s all morning but by noon the sun was starting to break thru and temperatures were rising slightly.  Knee to waist deep powder was everywhere and everyone was wearing a powder mustache.  This has been an incredible month so far.  :D

We met Art for a few powder runs and he captured the following images.

Super!

Though I missed you guys at Crystal today where it was also cold and lots of nice snow and no lift lines. Visibility issues as it snowed all day long.

Zap, heard from Art that you and Jill were up there today.  Sorry to have missed you (not that I could have even seen you in all the snow). :)   A snorkel would have been handy today.

Here is some deep powder video from the day:
