Stevens 5am report said 8 inches of new. When we got to the parking lot there was at least another 6" more. Delayed lift openings all day as patrol was completely caught off guard by all the new snow. Skyline opened at 9:15am, then Hogsback and Chief around 9:35am. Seventh opened around 10am. The backside didn't open until noon!!! Nice and deep all day just about anywhere you went, with next to no wind. Lots of big smiles and much whooping all day long.
When the backside closed, hiked up Tye Stick and skied down the the back of the ski area to Hiway 2 @ Tunnel Creek. Thanks to ArtF for the pickup at the road. Note we took a conservative tree line going down. Coming out on the logging road, on big open slopes we could see some VERY wide, 14"+ deep slides that had run for long distances.

Buddy, buddy, buddy, what is this. In our 20 years of skiing THERE, you have never posted publicly about "you know where". And I go off on a little adventure to Crystal and you do this. You need to remove this posting before Pete sees it and then you're in real trouble.
I promise I'll ski with you more often. Just remember, I didn't sneak off to Salt Lake City twice this year when the skiing was tough locally in Jan/Feb. Then call your Buddies and say "I made a last minue decision and didn't have time to call." !
You're "on probation."
The lifts open at Crystal in an hour and I need to go make sure it's safe.

Yesterday (March 5) was our 4th day in a row at Stevens Pass and definitely the best of the lot.As mentioned above, it took awhile before the whole mountain was opened. There were freshies to be found all day with almost hero snow to play in. The snow was OK for the first part of the week, but I had avoided the double blacks. Everything was skiable on Thursday; I even skied Wild Katz for the first time.
After purchasing the new Spring Season Pass, I will most certainly return to Stevens again this year.
