Much better powder day than 2" on the telemetry would have indicated. I think what was happening is that the foot+ of snow on the trees was being knocked off by the 15-25mph winds and being dried out by the colder temps and helping to recycle snow, even from run to run. Snowed most of day too but not heavily.

First time in fact this season I have had the powder skis out because I kept missing the good days. I even forgot to scrape the storage wax off until I got on the hill.

Trying to shed a cold so missed first golden hour of riding but even so got fresh lines. Took me a while to start divining the aspects where the easterly wind was dropping the snow but once I cracked that code it was great. Some really nice windpack on Aquarius Face. Spent whole day on backside mostly Southern Cross. Showed a nice couple one of my favorite slackcountry runs, 2 foot plus n-facing deep pow in the open and then 8" (which was enough)  over the crust once into the steep trees. Have a feeling conditions would be similar over backside of Skyline R.

Pretty good crowd for a Thu at Stevens. Telemetry said temps in the teens but really it did not feel that cold - maybe backside warmer? Viz was better than average at least at the start. Eventually blowing snow did start to make it a little harder to see. Every so often could observe slabby character in the snow.

I am coming down to Stevens for the first couple days of next week. I see snow in the forecast; hopefully conditions will be nice.
