Big Sky, February 9, 2009 was created by Keith_Henson
It snowed really hard at Big Sky today. Started off with a couple of inches of dust on crust and by 2 pm we were into a powder day. Visibility varied as the sun sometimes was shining while it snowed. Temperatures in the low 20's.

Team Wally and I hooked up with my nephew, with whom I'm staying, former Big Sky Dirt Bag King (1997), Brian Rumbaugh. Brain was keen to do the Dictator Chutes and despite the foreboding clouds on the summit of Lone Peak and the ice under the powder, up we went. The snow was actually relatively good except for a section of breakable crust.

The afternoon we hooked up with friends of Brain's and Team Wally and I were were taken on some steep, deep, and rocky.

Unfortunately the snow stopped at the end of the day and we received no new overnight.

First pic is of Greg Ellestad, another former BS Dirt Bag King (2001) coming down the First Dictator Chute. Second photo is of Team Wally coming down the chute. And last a picture of Brian at the top of a corniced powder ridge run.

Keith,

Looks like a good day.

Both Lookout Pass and Silver Mtn have the Shell 2 for 1 on Thursday if you have any coupons left.  If not the senior rate is $39 at Silver and $19 on weekdays at Lookout.  Lookout and Silver are open Thursday thru Monday.

Jill and I are starting a short roadtrip in that direction on Saturday.

I'm bumming that we didn't get a chance to hook up in the Rockies. I have some coupons left and am considering Lookout (which, by the way, is now open on "Bonus Wednesdays") or Silver on Thursday.

Or I may just drive Thursday and on Friday hit the pow I know will be waiting at Crystal...

Oh. I see.

So now that it's snowing here you'll go ahead and find your way home?
No powder for you!
You've had your share.
