Buses and cars were lined up for the opening of the Little Cottonwood Canyon Road. Avalanche worked completed, at 8:30 the line of vehicles snaked its way to Alta and Bird.

It snowed all day and by mid afternoon it was dumping big, light flakes. Though visibility was sometimes a challenge, especially in Mineral Basin where there are few trees, there were plenty of chutes and trees in which it was easier to see. Lots of snow slides when skiing.

Pretty crowded up there on a Sunday with lift lines up to 10 minutes.

At 3:00 the road was closed for avalanche work again. It reopened at 4:15 at which time there were hundreds (literally) of people waiting for buses to take them off the mountain. The first of the buses began arriving at 5. Despite the inconvenience, it was still it was an awesome day at the Bird.

Well it's time for another hit. Woke up this morning in the in the valley and my car is covered in snow. The summit temp at the Bird is 4 degrees. That's right, 4 degrees and about 8 inches overnight. The road is currently closed but scheduled to open at 8:30. (People who are staying in the lodges at Alta and Bird are not allowed outside.)
