Bogus Basin, January 21, 2009

Though Boise was socked in with fog, it was clear in the mountains above.

One of the windingest roads I've driven climbs 3200 feet in 16 miles leads to Bogus Basin, a non-profit out side of Boise.

Like the Northwest, there is an inversion here and a real lack of snow. It was a strictly a groomer day, and though 40 degrees and sun, the off -piste never softened enough to ski.

Very friendly people. Locals took me all over the slopes.

Off to Ogden this morning and will be skiing at Powder tomorrow. (Thanks to Spitboard Graham for the stoke pictures).

Thanks for the report. I am planning a trip w/ my son in mid February, and we'll go where there's snow, w/ particular attention to some of the lesser known spots. I'm grateful for the report, as Bogus Basin and Powder are both on our to-do list. Can't wait to get a TAY-take on Powder, as we've already hit Alta/Bird, and Solitude and Powder is next. Hope you find great conditions!

Well, the snow report is 7 inches of new last night and lots more on the way. I'll check out Powder Mountain today...
