First post in a long while.

Just wanted to mention that if you like high speed carving it doesnt get much better than night skiing at Summit West this week. Highly carvable granular snow over a firm but not icy base.

Watch out for terrain features (little dips/jumps, ridges etc) that dont exist with more snow but are super fun as long as you know they are there.

Pacific Crest was nice. Best was the right side of the y on the trail down Wild Side (straight off the lift and then take a right 50 yards down the hill).

Dont even think about going off the groomed :-[

On the night of the 14th it took about 1 hour after opening before the hill was mostly covered with hard "snow pebbles" -- little chunks of frozen snow broken off the corduroy.  Not at all conducive to good riding.

Halfway through the the night I happened to get onto the (single) track of a groomer that had passed through in transit about an hour prior.  The snow here was perfect corduroy, noo refrozen crud busting off everywhere.

I already know the answer, but why, Summit, don't you groom for the night-time opening of West right before it opens, instead of the night before?  Your local competitor Aspen would, and I did pay nearly 300 dollars for my pass.  Shall I threaten to take my money elsewhere, say to Whistler for 3 days?

And while I'm at it, Summit, I've noticed that West has what seems to be a fully set up snowboard park.  I prefer that that be groomed along with the rest of the ski-rink.  If you did the park would transition from unusable to usable, which is likely an incentive for people choose your resort over, again, say Aspen.

Finally I would like for someone at least occassionally to check my ticket/pass.  It is not so much the legions riding for free as it is the validation I'd get from being recognized as their host.  I've seen with my own eye robots completing this simple task; certainly teenagers from Northbend are nearly that smart.
