Did a couple of laps first thing this morning on on the quad at Alpental. There was about 2 inches of new on yesterdays' soft moguls (no grooming except over by Sessel). Low visibility and lots of early season contour made for less than enjoyable turns, so I decided not to wait for the top to open and headed to Central. On my way out of the lot someone said the International side of things was supposed to open for the first time this year, but I was already gone so I left.
Rode a couple w/ two inches of new on cut up mank under triple sixty, then a couple of very enjoyable runs two inches on top of the fresh groomers when they got the quad open. The park is not open yet -- just two jib lines, one weird up-rail to air drop followed by flat rail, the other option a log slide (I think) followed by a lengthwise barrel or tank sort of thing. How about a box or two?
Migrated over to Silver Fur when they dropped the rope and had the best runs of the day as that area didn't open yesterday. Felt like a solid 18 inches to 2 feet of POW, till a lot of contour but made for fun hopping over and darting around stuff. No lift line and plenty space out on the hill.
From 8:30am to 11am almost 4 inches of snow fell on the car. I 90 was a mess heading east as I headed home west -- big traffic jam and lot of chaining up/spinning out going on. Snow line was just out of Northbend in the morning, a mile from the base of the pass on the way back home.
