Ahhh, skiing on Christmas, what a great tradition. Crystal was empty, sunny, with 3-5 really light inches of new. Skied 3-4 inches of fluff on top of soft on Green Valley for an hour or so until High Campbell opened up. 3 very soft laps off the throne, fluffy and soft, no real bottom (and didn't hit any rocks!). Then 3 waist deep blower laps in the Southback-Silver Basin, with the sun lighting up each run. Hardly anyone out there and it was amazing. No pit, no pics, sorry, having too much fun. The bombs thrown by Patrol in Silver Basin caused no movement whatsoever and the snow almost felt bottomless. Got seriously socked in around 2 pm. Very fun day.

i found a rock yesterday :(  the chutes off silver king were too inviting to pass up, unfortunately I smacked into some rocks under about 3ft of powder about a quarter of the way down...my poor gotamas will be needing some ptex surgery, but all the face shots made up for the toll on the gear.

also very nice to actually ski powder bowl in untracked powder conditions!

I was there too, and I have to say it was a surreal day.  Reminded me of a typical mid January day at Crystal back in the 80's before the current trend where it seems the whole city of Seattle gets an eye problem every time it snows midweek.  First chair crowd was only 10 or so chairloads, no lines anywhere all day, skiing untracked with zero hiking on every run right up to 3PM.  Set a new (and most often unattainable) high standard for what a lift ski day should be like!

Yeah Christmas day was awesome. Fluffy powder everywhere, only thing closed was Niagaras! My goats are needing some surgery as well... too many rocks on the way to southback..
