Snow and weather today were as close to Utah as we ever get here in the Cascades.  Superlight 20"powder, bluebird skies, no wind.  Sadly the snow at Crystal right now is bottomless, or should I say, rocky bottomed.  Anybody know where to get edge repair, and what it costs?

Lift ticket $60, gas (at $1.70/gal!) $14, new skis $800, five untracked powder runs - priceless!!!

Louie @ Greenwater Skis. Just drop em off on the way home and then pick them up on your way back.

Cost? I'm not sure, but he does a hell of a job!

Skied Xtal today the 20th. Inbounds tracked out so went to south back. Traverse from chair 6 and around the King is slow, rocky and shrubby and not a good line for gliding BUT Silver Basin is velvety goodness.  ;D ;D ( First two turns are a bit rocky but then waaah hooo)
Some outstanding gentelmen had put a skin track up the basin so after dropping in I skinned back up and repeated with a TAYer I met at the bottom. It was less effort than doing the traverse again. Nobody there today. Forecast and road conditons must have scared them off. Left at 1.30 to avoid road warriors.

Sory about your skis Silas but no pain no gain. I'm sure they will fix up just fine. I agree with comment about Louie. He's very good.

Have to agree with the ugly ugly shots to my base but damn it was worth it. Very light pow saturday. 6-11 farenheit all day. Definetely had to stay light footed and not go over any suspicious bumps in the snow. Patrol was all over the place. Ben let me open up northway bowl which had some great rock shots but only when i tried to get too close to the edge of the chutes. North back opened at noon. Morning glory bowl to brand x to brand x cliffs was phenomenal. Deep 2-3ft of untouched until the cliff edges and stepper roll overs which were very unfriendly to my base. The bottom got a little slow, probably because i had all weather wax and it was cold. when i went back over to the lodge at 3pm i felt the wind picking up. Its 9pm up here now and the wind is pretty solid... but not crazy yet. Still snowing but so far not much setted on the cars outside. Reports say that wind will die out early tomorrow. With 10"+ it should be another great day on sunday. I wonder if brand x and the places i was are even considered hiking anymore with the northway chair?
