November 22, 2008, Mt Hood, off piste Timberline

Checked out the snowfields circa Timberline.  Palmer chair lift is turning, but they aren't getting my money so we hoofed it up to the bottom of the snowfield thrice.  Snow quality was dry and very mildly wind packed, about as good as can be expected of 10" on dirt above the treeline.  Turns were soft and deep, but volcanic sharks were biting in force.  I cannot recommend enough that one bring one's rock board or skis.  Anyway, the snow level is headed up tomorrow, and it'll be a shallow slush fest bluebird Sunday.  Sounds like  disk golf day...
