No cool pictures or anything new to post here except a day of skiing up on Palmer. Figure it might be helpful beta for anyone who is desperately looking for something to ski.
Most of the snow at the lodge level was washed away by last week's rain. But Palmer snowfield is still in good shape and the gullies below it connect to within about 400 yards of the parking lot.
Conditions were pretty fast today and everyone up there seemed to be having a fun time. I wandered into the rocks off to skiers right of the lift a couple of times and found some fun drops in the gully through there, although also added some scratches to my bases.
Picked up my skins and backpack in the car for the last run of the day, rode the lift to the top and then skinned up to about 9.300 feet. Conditions up above were a mix of ice and a bit of apparently new windswept snow. It was worth it to be the last one skiing down Palmer behind the ski patroller's sweep at 3:30.
I'd think it should be good for tomorrow too...
