Maybe it was a lost one from earlier in the season and finally melted free of the snowpack. That could explain why no one was looking for it.
I thought REI quit renting skis for the season a while back?

By now, I know to steer clear of you even when you have had nothing to drink.
Just gotta watch the tons of dog crap that is deteriorating on the surface of the snowpack by the lots. Or the cesspools of crap in the water on the lots. Really became mindful if the dirt on my ski was crap or really dirt when I cleaned them off.
What U talking about Willis, your'e always ahead of me anyway. Only time I overtook you was that day on BrandX when I decided to show you my steeze and I overtook you and then crashed and somersaulted twice. I could tell you where impressed.
What's this dirt thing you got going, you turning into Howard Hughes or something!
Not being an Alpental regular I do agree that Alpental does have a huge litter problem although I recnetly skinned up to the Summit House at Crystal and found lots of plastic water bottles on the cat track. Picked them up like a good citizen.
Does Alpy have a volunteer program like some resorts where local go and pick up litter under the chair lifts? I think Crystal does.

Took one run in the backcountry, debris and creeks starting to pop up but a fine day not too hot or cool in shorts most of the time.
Took a nice after work hike up through there this afternoon. Very nice corn all the way down! I did notice a few beer cans, cigarette butts and nice piles of poop.

Even without a drink-The skiing was AWESOME!!!! It was about as good as spring skiing gets!!
Had fun hitting Lumpies (sp?) with you and Barry, again, and again, and again the last two weeks...
As for the trash, most of that happened between Cinco De Mayo, and Sunday the 18th along with the drunk skiing. There is always the crap that rises to the top during the melt, however the worst of it seems to come at the end of season, when the non-regular crowd who only ski Alpental at the end after everything else is closed shows up to party (with apologies to all the cool people who showed up and skied sober and didn't litter).
