Heavy powder was in abundance at Alpental. With spring operating hours restricting openings to Thurs - Sun, Alpental had not seen any major ski activity in four days, and had received around 16" of snow at the top of Armstrong, and more at the top of Chair 2.
The snow off chair 2 was not too heavy, but quickly set up like mashed potatoes after 500 feet of skiing. The top 500' off International was very nice, but again turned to mush. About 1000' feet down the mountain, the snow was heavy and wet, with an icy crust about 6" down.
No backcountry was open, and numerous point releases will likely keep it that way for a few days.
