Thursday - What a great ski day! ... pow and sunshine.
Well... what luck! We got some freshies lately. The snow pack is in good condition as we are now officially into Spring. I know it won't last, but WoW! I believe that low temps and fog have nicely preserved the snow so far.
Broken cloud formations. Sunshine, filtered sun. Overcast by 2:00
Snow in the trees and on the parking lot this morning:

The groomers started out with about three inches of freshies. Eventually, got hammered into a pretty hard icy surface by the end of the day. Plenty of side pow.
Up the Rex was quite different. About six inches of pow, twice as much in the trees. GV bowl got chopped and scraped... but it was soooooo easy to find pow in the trees... and off to the side.
So... we were all over the place practicing our pow turns.
A few more cell phone pics:

Lower Bull Run showed some signs of softening by lunch time.... just the top sluff, not the boiler plate. A little mush showed at the Snorting Elk sign as we went in for lunch. But, nice and cold up top.
The bad:
The Rex was inop for about twenty minutes around noonish... with folks sitting on the chair. Broke down just as we were approaching the chair. Sixty seconds earlier and that would have been me stuck in that chair. Not bad for me, but..... made some nice runs down the lower slopes and rolling knolls - bull run to snorting elk for lunch.
I used my 2 for 1 Warren Miller voucher to pick up some lift tickets for some friends.... of course there were computer problems at the ticket window. Using cash instead of credit card helped me a little. It was agonizing as folks in front of me waited and waited to get their lift tickets. This is not the first time this season that Crystal has had problems at the ticket window. Really, they should fix this. It is just not right for such a fine operation.
Lastly, it was a little frustrating seeing all the freshie and unmarked pow and know that I would not have enough time or energy to track it all. I tried my best.
