March 19, 2008 Alpental: Lights out?

Well, they've turned out the lights for midweek night skiing at Alpental. Bummer. Is this earlier than usual? They certainly have the snowpack to keep 'er rollin'. One can only hope that they will "man up" and keep the skiing going until Cinco de Mayo!

Skiing was great today, hardly a sole on the traverse.

It would be great to see the area keep Alpental open through May. With the snow pack we have now the Spring skiing will be great.

Anyone know who put the skin track into Bryant peak today? We noticed from the top of Draft Dodger ridge what looked like recent avalanche debris at the bottom of the Couloir.

Today was a sweet one. Nobody there, freshies and sunshine, oh and one big-ass explosion! Patrol blew up one of the monster cornices hanging above edelwiess bowl. Only 150 lbs of dynamite involved. That was one hell of a KABOOM! If anyone took video of it please post it!
