R.I.P Northway

I don't know how the rest of you feel about the loss of North Back at Crystal, but after 1/2 hour of the lift running today the whole thing was trashed. Many of the great fall line tree runs had turned into traverse tracks and olie pads for the hoards of boarders and lookey lous. I am sure management must have had a plan but I'm not sure this was it. Patrol did a phenomenal job trying to mark the cliff bands and hazards. I've never seen so much bamboo in one place. A few hardy souls treked up Morning Glory. When I got up there Patrol was explaining to group of riders that there really wasn't an easy way down. I can't figure out why they cut all the trees on the Snorting Elk side of Northway ridge. Are there not enough bumped up runs as it is ? Oh well, it's a private corp, not a co-op.

Were the lift lines shorter than normal for a Saturday at other places by chance? I am trying to think of a silver lining here.

Liftlines were astoundingly short at Alpental for a Saturday.

How were the crowds?

It used to be bc. Now it is mainstream. Such is progress.

The lift lines were non-existent at green valley as soon as Northway opened. I heard High Campbell was similar. I can't believe how hard it was snowing and blowing this morning.

disappointing but thanks for the update.  I'm trying to find that silver lining too.  maybe southback will have less people?
