December 19, 2007 Alpy

deep & heavy, but oh so much fun to finally be lazy and ride a chairlift this season.  Coverage is pretty darn good...very few rocks, though plenty of early season terrain features (brush, the occational stream, etc) down low.

chair 2 hadn't opened yet when I left at 12:30.

Any indication of when the might open 2?

they were blasting up there, and last i heard before I left was that it could be an hour wait. hopefully they opened it!

They opened chair 2 around 1:30. More deep...DEEP...and heavy snow. The only open run down was Edelweiss Bowl. It was pretty comical watching all the snowboarders get stuck in the run outs - dozens of them wallowing everywhere I looked.

Wonder if they will open more terrain tomorrow...

Chair 2 started loading just after 12:50pm, at least that was the last time I looked at my watch before loading. That first run was sweeeet. Yeah, the wallowing boarders were pretty funny but you have to admit so too were the one-lost-ski skiers wallowing throughout the day. Yes, it was heavy pow.

Opening day was interesting.  Flat light and interesting terrain features made for challenging skiing.  After a few hours we decided to wait for chair 2 to open until we got tired of waiting. Decided to go over to Hayak and do a lap.  I went home and took a nap and then went to West for night skiiing   I tried the free heal thing for the first time.  I think I need some coaching b/c I have no idea what to do.  I can ski them well the regular way though.
