;)Ok folks, all i can say is if you are going to drive up to baker, please be smart and respectful, if it's too hard to do that, go somewhere else. Driving up early afternoon on saturday was maddening to say the least, idiots abound....all directions, and to the really neat boys in their little 2 wd sports cars sitting in the middle of the road at the start of the loop......find a different place to wreak havoc, you made my blood pressure increase...
Now, the ski area, great snow, decent coverage in bounds, pea gardens is a beautiful place.....not stoked on the vollies lame reply of "there's too much snow and poor visibility" when asked why the heck they closed pan dome at 2:30...ummmmm to much snow?????? are you kidding me???? Next time we'll just hike from the parking lot.....yup, that's whatcha do...but please, refer to the above statement, be smart, don't get lost or in trouble!
Baker is on it's way, great place to ride and getting better coverage every day.....thank you mother nature!!!!

Mmmm...yes, this was a good weekend at Baker. Too much snow? hah. Good thing I thought ahead and brought the Teledaddies home this year; they handled the cement with ease in all its various states of fresh to choppiness. I didn't mind the early lift closure on Saturday so much since we had been skiing since 10:30 nonstop, and had walked all the way from WWU to Mt. Baker Hwy in order to hitch a ride to the mountain (apparently the buses don't run until 9AM on weekends). It was a bit windy on top, snowing and sort of wet all around, not making for good visibility but still a blast. Good thing the snow was so deep! Coverage seemed decent for early season but I managed to collect a sizable core shot on Sunday. It might be imagination but the snow seemed to be a little lighter yesterday, less of a mashed potato consistency. Visibility was definitely improved as well. Can't wait to get out there again!!!

WSDOT website called for chains earlier on SR 542. Be prepared for winter driving. Especially up to Baker. That road can get hairy.
