Part of my work/I-5 road closure tour put me at Meadows. I have never skied Meadows and it really was quite nice! On and off snow with magnificent clearing for the final run in 4 inches of untracked sweet alpenglow pow down "The Gulch" after booting up to nearly the top of the Cascade Express?? (the highest chair that was closed).
Coverage is OK compared to Bachelor, the good news is that the rain crust and new snow adhered very well to the crust layer.
Not sure of the terrain, but seemed to find some very nice stashes, the terrain is not real steep, but the snow was the perfect depth for turning on low angled terrain.
Can't imagine how one gets down the slopes at Meadows if cascade concrete covers the hill ???
What is missing in steeps are more than made up in views. This had to be the most spectacular view of Mt Hood I have ever seen! Unfortunately, my camera battery is dead-I took this goofy shot using my mac's camera.
Should be good skiing there tomorrow, watch for rocks bring da' skins.

Sounds like a nice day. Meadows has some wonderful steep terrain in Heather Canyon which probably has insufficient snow at this time. Another steep slope is the Wy'east Face above the Cascade Express chair which is usually a spring ski descent. Jeff and the group from OR have numerous stashes around Meadows.

Yes I was thinking about those guys as I skied the edge of the Heather Ridge, drooling of the possibilities. There seems to be a lot of terrain with many aspects broken by the ridges that would provide a myriad of skiing. And to have Wy'east staring at you all the time is a tease and a half!
