Along with Hamish and Colin, I had the best day of spring skiing this year yesterday. Blackcomb Glacier is now a unpatrolled quasi-back country. We got three great runs through Garnet, Ruby and Sapphire Bowls. We almost had the glacier to ourselves to enjoy and enjoy we did.My photos tell a better story than my words. www.telemarktips.com/Photopost/showgalle...hp?ppuser=61&cat=500

Great terrain selection.  I was planning to do the same thing this week.   ;)

How's the coverage on Blackcomb Glacier Rd ?

What signage did they have at Spanky's Ladder ?

I hope that you luck out with similar great weather,Zap. The exit road/trail was in good shape, with the exception a few spots. The current temps may change that situation a bit. It would take us 10 minutes to go from the bottom of Ruby to the chairlift, even with the sticky, flattish parts.
There was just enough snow to enter Sapphire from Garnet Bowl.

The sign age at the top of the ladder said, in so many words; No patrols, it'll cost you big bucks if you get into trouble, use all precautions.

Good luck, Bob
