1-2" new kept the base relatively soft, (wet soft on most exposures that is, not dry). Linked turns could be made with some effort in the chopped up stuff, grub stake for instance. I had hoped some other hardy souls would follow and smooth it out into some nice soft wet spring bumps but no one took the bait. This might happen with the Saturday crowds if it doesn't freeze. Had some very pleasant turns on some untracked north facing slopes, and it was actually dry but dense snow on top of the solid but not frozen wet base. Didn't go up Six. Lucky Shot and Snorting Elk was groomed and fun with mostly soft wet snow. There was a pretty good blue hole over head and the sun was out much of the morning along with a few brief light snow or rain showers depending on what side of 5500' you were on. By noon it was clouding up and beginning to spit rain a little harder so I called it a day and visited mom in Enumclaw. In the spring conditions can change so much you just never know. This morning it worked out. We'll see about the weekend.
