Alpental 3.20.07 Did not suck.

Who knew? I picked up 2 pals and we headed up to the hill. Could see snow on the trees in the foothills. A slight dusting was apparent on the side-of-the-road snowpack on Alpental road and we were a little discouraged, but as we went higher and higher the snow got deeper and deeper and lighter and lighter.

The tops of the skied out spots like upper 'nash had ice topped moguls with windblown in the pockets and in some spots you had to be on your toes a bit. There was probably 8 inches at the top of chair 2 and it just kept dropping graupel all day on the 20 or so people that were skiing the area. Knoll one opened mid morning and a huge throng of 5 people stormed the gate. Abundant untracked lines all over the place. What a treat.

No, it DEFINITELY did not suck! I was one of the other 20 people there...making laps all day on the deep fluffy stuff outside of Knoll 2. Even inbounds there were fresh tracks on every run all day long (both upper and lower mtn). Today's gonna be incredible as well!
