Fresh powder, very foggy on top (although chair 6 was full). Various frozen precip during the day. And we had a lot of fun!
Hit freshies and stashes all day long. I think that they should keep the lifts open longer this time of year. The fog was variable throughout the day. However, it looked like the very top was pretty well socked in. Only had to ski by touch once down Green Valley Bowl. Groomers were silky smooth, skier packed. The snow is in real good condition right now. There is some ice under that snow.
A few kids on spring break couldn't make a dent in the pow. But, took advantage of Gold Hills being open, finding stashes off to the side.
Had to take time out for a little birthday party at the Elk for a fellow skier who used to ski with us - He is now 90 years old. However, I am beginning to take seriously the concept of "No Friends on Powder Day!"

I think I saw the 90 year old gentleman. They stopped the forest queen chair to load him up amd people made mention of his age.
Here's my blurb about today from another thread (mine)
Thursday, another awesome day at Crystal. Six new inches. Foggy up top so I stayed mid mountain most of the day still finding lots of powder in the south back behind the campbell chair and above Snow Garden.
Then went up gold hills, slipped behind the cottages, did a gnarly traverse through the trees to arrive at the untracked, couple of foot deep pow that provided 150 yards of heavenly floating and skiing.
Again, cold temps and great snow today. When I left at 2 the snow was starting up again.
Powder to the people, right arm!

My 90 year old guy... I don't think he skied today. However, I did spot another ancient character on Magoo... white beard and some kind of bizarre hat... a Santa Clause character. He looked real old and was just puttering along. Kind of funny... he was skiing real slow, just like someone that age would walk slow.
One of the guys on my ski team is about 81 years old and he is a pretty good skier... he can get me in trouble any day although I have picked him up a few times. These guys really inspire me. I fantasize about myself just skiing along at 80+ ... hey, it could happen.
We were up on Gold Hills today slipping below the cottages... poaching stashes. And my team took a long traverse in that direction on some kind of icey goat trail, after I had headed in. We had spotted a couple of guys traversing either through or just below the cottages (maybe you)... these guys ended uphill from us and I was worried about cutting across their line. I think they descended before we could mess them up. But trying to control fellow skiers can sometimes be like trying to herd cats. Anyway... found some untouched pow... nice.

The old guy you saw with the funny hat and beard is Paul Gerstmann, Cf:

I should have recognized Dr. Gerstmann. I am sure that I have seen him several times. I usually see him below while riding the chair lift. Kind of like running into Bronka Sundstrom on Mt. Rainier. I will make sure to say hello next time I see him.
