32 degrees and raining at 5 PM, 32 degrees and snowing hard, nice flakes, down to 2,000 ft at 10 PM. Go figure. Thin slurpee-like snow with a little gelatin mixed in on the groomers, rain crust capped by an inch or two of light Jello (TM) off piste at 3000 feet but better at 4000 feet. Could be great today based on how hard it was snowing, esp. if it buries that rain crust.

I was surprised at how good the snow was at central yesterday (Sat/20th). Due to hordification, we skied a fair bit on the slow but quiet silver fir lift where there was a lot of puffy soft skiing semi-tracked that was nice even on the steep. The crust became more noticeable on the lower half of the mountain but there the moderately tracked edges of the runs were delightful. The Saturday parking scene at mid-day (we slept in) reminded me of why I mostly only go backcountry on weekends, but it was still a fun day.
