Outstanding day. A little cloudy in AM but just great sunshine afterwards. Despite the temps it didn't seem that cold, probably due to intense sun and no wind. (maybe a puff or 2 at the top on occasion). The ~16" of new 2 days ago was still great. Didn't see much wind affect. The trees had a uniform coating of ~ 5", plus lots of older snow. Arrived at 10 AM due to work so what ever goods were gotten already. Seemed like it was skied out from yesterday. Northback was open but lots of traffic had it skied out by my arrival. Still fun for a trip or two. Skied the front side mostly because it was so good. Patrol blasted the South Back all day till about 1:45 pm. I was hoping for a late afternoon opening but no, "too much hassel". Hows that for customer service? I can't get up tommorrow AM so if you keep it a secret I'll tell you that I heard they plan to open S. Back in the morning. It will be very good. So go!
I noticed an uptrack into Bullion Basin. Couldn't tell if it continued up the ridge in the favored tree line and I didn't see any ski tracks down, higher up or down lower. That'll be a good option. Snow didn't seem too unstable. I didn't hit any fresh in real steep areas so I'd recommend taking a good look at the avy potential. Of course the King slid with all the bombs but the crown I saw only looked about a foot or so. Talk to the patrol. Enjoy
