A great day up at Stevens Pass yesterday. A foot of light blower overnight while most of the mountain had been closed for a couple days. No lift lines, faces shots until noon...a good day in the Cascades.

It was pretty neat to see how slabby this much new snow can be, even inbounds. Be thankful we live in the NW and not in the Rockies...they must be really limited as to what days can be spent in the backcountry.

"A Greet Day" indeed (that's what it said on the ticket).

Debbie & I saw the window of opportunity and took our two truants up for a family holiday. Nice deep snow. Debbie's new Sirens were a hit. Definitely an in-bounds day. We saw a bit of movement in the top foot, a bunch of sluffing and a couple of smaller incipient cracks that got my attention on the hike up to Bobby's & Nancy's. The truants really delighted in the fresh tracks aspect of the day. Lunch had to wait until after 1pm. Now the truants are pooped - and the weather conspired to give them a day off from school to rest!

It snowed all day and the temperatures should preserve the snow nicely.
